Wind energy
While relatively uncommonly used, the use of wind energy to power Passive House buildings is a viable strategy and highly sustainable, as the supply of wind is practically unlimited. Although its intermittency makes it challenging to use as the sole energy source for a building, it can certainly contribute much to the mix.
In the Passive House development in Hannover Kronsberg (Germany), for example, electricity is supplied by a wind turbine near the development which was purchased jointly by each resident. Solar collectors are used for hot water generation.
