Aquitaine (France)

 

 

The Aquitaine Region is investing in energy efficiency and renewable energies with the help of some sizeable loans. For the 2013 budget, the European Investment Bank (EIB) committed to deliver 800 million, which will benefit schools, training institutions, and small and medium enterprises in renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. Among the selected projects include the construction of a plus energy school in Bergerac and the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roofs of many regional schools.

 

In addition, the region and the EIB along with the banks Crédit Agricole and Banque Populaire, and Caisse d'Epargne, have joined forces to support small and micro businesses renewable energy production and deep energy retrofitting. A total overall budget of € 300 million will be allocated to energy efficiency projects in the form of loans at favourable interest rates.
